In 2006, David G. Thompson wrote the book Blueprint to a Billion. Thompson is fascinated by the following question: Why do some companies grow more quickly than others? To gain insight into this, Thompson researched which factors underlie this question. Human Insight has contributed to this research by facilitating the tools that measure the dynamics within a board or management team. Thompson identified seven different principles, one in particular that focuses on the diversity within management teams. These principles were the start of a long-term study into the influence of cognitive diversity in the boardroom and its impact on strategic diversity.
